Joe Byer (1914-2010) was born in Rozanka, Poland in 1914 to a family of nine children. He attended Haifa Technological Institute, worked as a police officer in Haifa, Israel and served in the British Army during World War II. After coming to the United States in 1947 he became a teacher at Beth Shalom, where he taught for over thirty years.

Description

In this interview, Mr. Byer discusses his life in Europe including his early life, Jewish education and attending Rabbinical school in Israel, career as a police officer, and being part of the British Army during World War II. He also discusses his family and coming to Wilmington, Delaware.
