We are pleased to welcome Rabbi Elliot B. Gertel, Rabbi Emeritus of Rodfei Zedek in Chicago, to Wilmington. Rabbi Gertel has a long-time interest in the architect Percival Goodman, the leading architect of American synagogues in the mid-twentieth century. Join us as Rabbi Gertel explores the design choices Goodman made to create spiritually uplifting spaces for community worship exemplified in the Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth synagogue.
Gertel’s detailed study, “Engaging, Artistic Invitations to Jewish Life: The Synagogues of Percival Goodman,” was published in the Fall 2016 issue of CCAR Journal: The Reform Jewish Quarterly.

Light refreshments will follow the presentation.
This program is jointly sponsored by Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth Congregation and the Jewish Historical Society of Delaware.
